The fascinating process of human decomposition
'This body, too: Such is its nature, such is its future, such its unavoidable fate'...
In Buddhism, Kammatthana is a form of meditation synonymous with mindfulness immersed in the body. Of the forty objects meditated upon the first ten are kasina or a whole; good practice but the crux of this article is in the next ten, objects of repulsion, asubha :
1) swollen corpse
2) bluish corpse
3) festering corpse
4) fissured corpse
5) gnawed corpse
6&7) dismembered or hacked and scattered corpse
8) bleeding corpse
9) worm eaten corpse
10) skeleton
This meditation on death makes one aware of our transitory nature. There is some evidence published by two scholars in 2013 that contemplating death makes you funny. Apparently death reminders may sometimes facilitate creativity and open-mindedness.
Meditate on your demise and get funnier today.

Your Body Speaks Your Mind
If your mind is thinking and you are feeling, then your body is making chemicals and hormones whilst being influenced by chemicals and hormones. Without these chemicals and hormones there would be no feelings and vice versa. We are body and mind! Therefore just as a sedentary lifestyle leads to physical defects, so do emotions repressed, they manifest from within. The emotions that are most repressed are grief, fear and rage.
You can boost your immunity, positively impacting your emotions by :
Eating nutritious foods high in vitamins and minerals
Getting enough sleep
Getting enough exercise
Watching funny movies or reading funny articles, because laughter is the best medicine
Listening to music
Getting frisky with your partner, alone or whatever
And finally, the one that takes will power but has, oh so many benefits, an ice cold shower
Ice Cold Titbits :
Reduce Stress
Cold showers train your nervous system to be more resilient to stress. Research has proven that winter swimming produces oxidative stress, and repeated exposure increased tolerance to environmental stress. Exposure to repeated intensive short-term cold stimuli is often applied in hydrotherapy, which is used in physical medicine for hardening.
Promote Fat Loss
The level of two hormones increase in our bodies when we shiver from a cold shower or exercise. And these hormones, FGF21, found in brown fat ( brown fat burns energy off and white fat leads to obesity ) and irisin, which is produced by muscles, are capable of converting ordinary fat cells to beneficial brown fat cells. It is estimated that 10 to 15 minutes of shivering can provide the same results as an hour of moderate exercise.
Ease Depression
Lowering the temperature of the brain is known to have neuroprotective and therapeutic effects, and can relieve inflammation, a known mechanism in depressive illness. Exposure to cold activates the sympathetic nervous system and increases blood level, the release of norepinephrine and the production of beta-endorphins, giving one a sense of well-being. A cold shower sends an overwhelming amount of impulses, due to the high density of cold receptors in the skin, from nerve endings to the brain resulting in an anti depressive effect.
Improve Immune System
Shivering causes an increase in metabolic rate and activates the immune system.
Improve Circulation
Exposure to cold forces the body to redirect blood to vital organs by circulating blood more efficiently.
Improve Lymphatic System
The contractions of the muscles over the whole body caused by a cold shower forces the lymphatic system to push lymph fluids throughout the body, stopping them from pooling, as it would in a compromised or inefficient system and removes waste from cells to help you fight against disease.
Improve Sleep
Wide-eyed is a well known effect of the ice cold shower. But, after the initial shock of the shower, the body relaxes and calms, making sleep better and deeper. Insomniacs are often advised to take a cold one.
Instil Discipline And Will Power
It takes great mental strength, to regularly, do something one is resistant to. Over time this discipline and will power will become a habit that will echo throughout your life.
Your body will get stronger as you train it to adapt to stressors.

Hero, Denis Mukwege
Dr. Denis Mukwege is a gynecologist and human rights activist, born on March 1, 1955, in Democratic Republic of the Congo. His minister father, who prayed over the sick, inspired him to learn medicine.
Working at first in a rural hospital, he saw the complications of childbirth without access to specialist help and went to France to study gynecology. He has since treated thousands of women who are gang rape victims during wartimes. He founded and works in Panzi Hospital where he performed up to ten surgeries during his eighteen-hour working day.
After giving a speech in September 2012 at the United Nation criticizing the government for not doing enough, an assassination attempt was made in October and forced him into exile, with devastating effect on his hospital. He returned in 2013, with a ticket from his patients who sold pineapples and onions to fund it.
He has won many awards, honorary doctorates and prizes, including the Noble Prize.
When is it rape? When any one of these three questions can be answered with a no.
Are the participants old enough to consent?
Do the participants have the capacity to consent?
Do the participants agree to take part?
Rape victims should always be helped to understand that nothing they did should have allowed someone to have sex against their will. This includes dressing suggestively, kissing or even other physical intimacy. Just because one doesn't physically resist doesn't mean it wasn't rape.

Caskets. Peace and Quiet
Because death is momentous, miraculous, and mysterious
Because the cycle of nature help us grieve and heal
Because our bodies are full of life- giving potential
We propose a new option for laying our loved ones to rest
http://www.urbandeathproject.org/
Option presently favored by this author is cremation and strewing. Cremation with it's emission output is hopefully countered acted by the nutrients from the ash that's strewn to earth, and needing no maintainance or natural resources might level out the pros and cons. Waiting hopefully for the Urban Death Project to get it in and on time.
I dread not my death
but my demise.
Thanks to the green burial movements a range of new caskets and burial needs are come to borne.

Here is What Makes us Healthy and Happy
Most common life goals tend to involve achievements, fame and wealth because we believe these will bring us happiness. But we are most happy when we share quality relationships.
A 75 year long, ongoing study on adult life answers questions about what makes us happy.

Natural burial in the Netherlands
A natural burial does not inhibit the decomposition but allows the body to recycle naturally.

Here above are a couple of cemetaries in the Netherlands offering the natural method. And on the very top is Fungi, neither plant nor animal, and here is one more,
Decomposition is when organic matter is broken down to it's natural element.
Here is a new sort of mushroom,
embroidered into the Infinity Burial Suit which does not use harsh/toxic chemicals, pollute the environment , or waste natural resources. The Infinity Mushrooms remediate body toxins and help break down the body.
Life After Death, To Grow Or Go.
a ripple stir I not, an echo make I not, life is done, death is here
Dying, death and funerals are not often spoken of. Subsequently neither is the fact that conventional burials are resource intensive and pollutes. Resource intensive in its use of materials such as wood and metal for caskets and clearings for plots and tombstones. Destructive in its methods of cemetery maintenance and use of lawn chemicals. Natural burials were common place till the appearance of our contemporary funeral industry, propagating expensive and evasive methods. Reducing carbon emissions, conserving natural resources and preserving habitat. Are we conceited? Do we merit everlasting? Here are some options, some ecologically respectful and others a little less, on life after death.
Want to be a tree then read the article below explaining the cycle of life in all its glory.
http://www.care2.com/greenliving/how-to-turn-into-a-tree-when-you-die.html
Bio cremation, even with it's use of alkali is considered more environmentally friendly than conventional methods. With the help of alkali and high temperatures, the speed of natural decomposition is profoundly accelerated. The resulting liquid solution is then directed back into the water system, which calls for some concern.
Choose to turn into part of a reef, this is how you may manifest, watch the video.
A little less visually spectacular is freeze drying, also called promession, where the corpse is frozen, dipped in liquid nitrogen and exposed to vibration. Liquid nitrogen?
Because carbon is one of the key elements in cremated human remains and the technology to turn carbon into gems is available, ash or hair can be transformed into LifeGems..
Space buffs can choose a Memorial Spaceflight. Yes, into space. A portion of the cremated ash is sealed in a container and launched into the orbit.
Care to be reanimated in the future? Then cryogenic freezing, also known as cryopreservation, and cryoconservation, is the way. No guarantees but who knows?!

My funeral arrangement. Plan to die.
A request after death. The search.
As every breath takes me closer to death, there is need for arrangements to be made. Only one burial method can be chosen. Grim! Inspired by www.urbandeathproject.org here are some facts:
Fresh - Bloat - Active decay - Advanced decay - Dry remains Living with the dead http://www.msn.com/en-sg/news/photos/living-with-the-dead/ss-BBmCZhP?ocid=mailsignoutmd Humans have, with great reverence for forever been burying their loved ones naturally. The Tana Toraja from Indonesia bury their deceased in niches carved in rock. http://www.odditycentral.com/pics/the-rock-face-burial-grounds-of-tana-toraja.html But that is not peculiar, this is The walking dead. |
